A couple of days ago, I have created an audio book on my PC, however the whole story is kinda tedious, thus I wanna mix some audio effects and background music to this audio file, but the problem is I can’t figure out how to do it. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hey, man, maybe you can have a try on Soundation, an online music studio that gives you the ability to do the audio recording and audio editing.
- Arvin : Yeah, I have given Soundation a try, but it seems it's a little bit difficult for me to use since it has a complicated and professional interface.

Just surf on the web, and I bet that you will easily find a dozens of audio editors available on your computer. However, with an overload of options and buttons, many audio editors are more than a little intimidating for beginners. In this case, here I will recommend two easy-to-use programs on mixing audio files.
AVS Audio Editor
AVS Audio Editor is a full-featured audio editor that designed to edit audio, apply effects and filters. It can apply effects to a set of files, instead of going through each of them one by one. And one of the striking features is that AVS Audio Editor supports a bunch of output audio formats including MP3, WAV, M4A, M4R, FLAC and many others.
With this editor, it’s pretty easy to mix sound files. All you need to do is click “Open” to add an audio track to the edit panel, then click “Open and Append” to add a new audio file to the former one. After that, you can hit on Save to save it on your computer.
Streaming Audio Recorder
Streaming Audio Recorder is a multifunctional audio mixer that enables you to cut, copy, delete any part of the audio track, or add silence or another audio file to it. Aside from this audio editing function, it also features as audio recorder, audio converter, ID3 tag editor, CD ripper etc.
Follow the steps to mix audio files:
Step one: Download and launch Streaming Audio Recorder.
Step two: Select “Audio Editor” from the dropdown list of “Tools”.
Step three: Click “Load a file to edit” and open an audio file you want to edit.
Step four: Choose “Mix sound file” from the “Tools” menu and then select the audio file you want to add to the end of the former audio file.
Step five: Hit on “Resample and export”, then you can choose export format and folder or make other resample settings.
Step six: Click “Export start” to save this audio track.
Both of these two programs can meet your needs of mixing audio tracks, with different emphasis, AVS Audio Editor focuses on its audio editing function, it can provide you more advanced settings in editing. While Streaming Audio Recorder is all-in-one program that combines several powerful functions together including audio recorder, audio editor, CD burner and other useful tools.

I am wondering that if there exists any online way for me to mix several audio files into a single one, cause desktop program takes up memory space and it may lead to the slowdowns of my computer.
It's true that online application will save you a certain amount of memory as well as save you the trouble of installing program, but it still has some drawbacks. Using online tool can be greatly affected by the computer network and it's a little bit troublesome to open webpage each time when you want to use it. However, if you insist on using online application for mixing audio files, then you could try Online Audio Joiner. Online Audio Joiner is a free online tool that supports to join multiple audio files into a single file.
However, one of the downsides of this Online Audio Joiner is its limited features. With this tool, you are only able to mix two or more audio files into a single one. While, apart from being able to mix audio files, the audio editor tool of Streaming Audio Recorder also gives you the ability to cut, copy, paste and delete any part of the editing audio. Even better, it can also features audio recorder, CD burner, audio converter, ID3 tag editor etc.

So once the audio files are added to the original or host file, are they able to be removed easily without losing any of the other content or are they considered a part of the file for good?

I downloaded the Streaming Audio recorder software and am having trouble figuring out the ID3 tags identifier. It doesn’t have ID3 tags after recording, has anyone else had this happen? I think I might be doing something wrong though because everything else is working perfectly and is really easy.
- Chole : Hi, Ryanjames! The built-in ID3 tag identifier of Streaming Audio Recorder can only be used for identifying the music track information. So if you record conversation, audio tracks rather than songs, then your recordings cannot be tagged with the name of album, artist, the year of release, etc.

I have used a couple of different audio editing software programs before and the seemed way to complicated for me. I am no beginner, but I didn’t like the myriad of buttons and useless features. Is the Streaming Audio Recorder any different? I see that it has a lot of features, but I want to make sure that it isn’t very complicated before I download it.
- Chole : Glad to tell you that Streaming Audio Recorder is a powerful yet simple-to-use program that available for both novice and professionals. So you don't need to worry about that.
