Snagit is well known as a powerful screen capturing tool to capture any image on the screen and it is capable of capturing videos. And today I will show you how to use Snagit to capture video and audio simultaneously in detailed steps.
There’s a capture options available in Snagit which is easy to be ignored by first-time users. Video capture mode in Snagit aims to record a simple video file of your screen and save it as an AVI file.
- 1. Launch Snagit. The default capture mode is “Image Capture”, so you should switch the mode to “Video Capture” if you want to capture video with audio. On the capture panel, click on the arrow button beside the red “Capture” button and choose “Video Capture”.
2. Now select the microphone icon next to “Capture” button and make sure it is turning on. This time, this will let you capture video with audio simultaneously.
3. When all the things are done, click “Capture” button. When the orange crosshair appears, you are able to drag the orange border to resize the recording region and capture video now.
Warning: Snagit limits the size of video recorded this way no more than 1GB. It will warn you to pause recording when you have reached the limit, and it will automatically finalize your recording when you have exceeded the maximum file size.
Under this circumstance, many people who need to record large size video file would choose another software to replace Snagit video capture. First of all, make sure your Microphone is highlighted under the “Options” tab.
If you have done this on Snagit, but the problems still exist. Go to “Start” > “Control Panel” > “Sound and Audio Devices” > “Audio” tab, and make sure that your sound card is set as Default Device. Click “Apply” then “OK”.
